Entrevista: Aroldo Rodrigues

Resumen

Aroldo Rodrigues offered relevant contributions in Social Psychology, especially in his country of origin – Brazil, promoting important reflections for Latin American Social Psychology. Born in 1933, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, he graduated in the first class of the first graduate Course in Psychology in Brazil, at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), in 1956. He worked in institutions such as PUC-Rio, the Instituto de Seleção e Orientação Profissional (ISOP), Universidade Gama Filho (UGF) and the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). In 1993, he became a professor at the Department of Psychology at the California State University (UCLA) in Fresno – USA, where he remained until his retirement in 2013. It is worth mentioning that, during the period he remained in Brazil, he was one of the main promoters of Social Psychology with a cognitive and experimental perspective. He was president of the Latin American Association for Social Psychology (ALAPSO) in 1973, and in 1976 he was president of the Interamerican Society of Psychology (SIP). The interview was conducted in the second semester of 2021. The questions were provided to the interviewee in advance, who reviewed them and then accepted the invitation to respond.
