The latent function of psychological tests in the counseling process

Résumé

The functions of psychological tests in the counseling process are discussed from the point of view of the expert-client relation­ship. The focus is on the subtle ways psychological testing influences the perception the client has of his counselor (expert). The relationships between counselors and clients in Puerto Rico are discussed, with attention being given to the cultural context in which this relationship occurs. The situation in Puerto Rico can serve as a model for expert-client relationships in other developing countries.
