Research on the socialization of emotions in Latin American indigenous communities: challenges and opportunities

A socialização das emoções envolve padrões culturais que orientam a expressão e compreensão emocional de meninas e meninos para se conduzirem competentemente em seu contexto cultural. A partir de uma reflexão crítica, este artigo analisa as pesquisas sobre a socialização das emoções em comunidades indígenas latino-americanas. Apesar da diversidade cultural na América Latina, há uma falta de estudos psicológicos nesse campo nessas comunidades. As reflexões derivam da análise das escassas pesquisas relacionadas à socialização das emoções. Especificamente, será enfatizado o estudo entre os maias do México como um caso particular em que a concepção e socialização das emoções diferem da visão eurocêntrica sobre as emoções. Argumenta-se a necessidade de uma mudança epistêmica no estudo das emoções e sua socialização, tanto em nível teórico quanto metodológico. Destacam-se os desafios e oportunidades emergentes que o estudo das emoções em comunidades indígenas latino-americanas apresentaria. Aprofundar nesse campo poderia contribuir para o entendimento global da diversidade emocional em diferentes culturas e para a formação de uma psicologia latino-americana conectada às comunidades, gerando diretrizes para o desenvolvimento de políticas e intervenções culturalmente pertinentes.
